My job responsibilities: I provide strategic planning and meeting documentation support for the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition. As a member of several of Florida’s traffic safety coalitions, I’m able to help identify opportunities for alignment between Florida’s traffic safety coalitions to advance progress toward our collective goal of zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
Why I joined the Coalition: I came to the Coalition after updating Florida’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). The Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition is one of several critical implementation arms of the SHSP and every meeting is incredibly valuable to achieving the goals outlined in the SHSP.
Hobbies or areas of interest outside of work: I am, first and foremost, a dad to two boys so most of my time is devoted to chasing them around the house, spending afternoons at the park, and reading our favorite bedtime stories at all hours of the day. While not with my kids, I’m a huge fantasy football nerd that puts way too much effort into a game about a game.
What was your favorite song when you were a teenager? I couldn’t ever pick just one. I grew up in the height of the pop-punk era and loved most of the bands that played at the Warped Tour in the late-90s/early-2000s.
What make and model was your first car? 2001 Ford Escort
What has changed most about driving from the time you were a teenager to now? I don’t drive fast anymore. I was never an egregious speeder but it didn’t take more than one speeding ticket for me to slow down.
The one tip I would give any new teen driver would be: Check your blind spots and be aware of the vehicles and people around you.
