Empowering the Next Generation of Safe Drivers

Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition

Funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition is a partnership of state and local agencies, law enforcement, educators, health professionals, businesses, and other public and private organizations working together to build a culture of safe driving among Florida’s teens.

The Coalition focuses on increasing traffic safety awareness among teens and adults through community outreach, education for teens, parents, caregivers, law enforcement, and other key stakeholders, high school presentations, the creation and dissemination of peer-focused educational materials, and the identification of best practices for driver education in schools.

Our mission is clear: equip teens with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to make smart driving decisions. Together, we are reducing crashes, saving lives, and building safer roads for Florida’s young drivers.

A Collaborative, Statewide Approach

The Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition serves as a statewide forum for coordination, information sharing, and action. By bringing together partners from education, transportation, public safety, health, and the private sector, the Coalition helps align efforts, reduce duplication, and focus resources where they have the greatest impact.

Through quarterly meetings, working groups, and ongoing collaboration, members contribute to data-driven initiatives, share effective programs, and identify emerging trends affecting teen drivers. This collective approach supports proactive solutions grounded in evidence and real-world experience.

Our Focus
  • Reducing teen crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities on Florida’s roads.
  • Engaging communities with evidence-based programs and resources.
  • Supporting Florida’s Target Zero and Strategic Highway Safety Plan goals.
  • Bringing together partners from education, health, business, and public safety.

Every teen crash is preventable. Our goal remains ZERO serious injuries and fatalities on Florida's roadways.
