Update: Effective July 2019, motorists in Florida may be stopped by a law enforcement officer for texting and driving (FS 316.305). Effective January 2020, wireless communication devices can only be used in a hands-free manner in Florida when driving in a designated crossing, school zone, or active work zone area (FS 316.306).
