Rachel Silber

Community Outreach Liaison and SADD Sponsor – Hollywood Hills High School

My job responsibilities: Community Outreach and Partners Liaison, Grants Liaison, School Mentors Liaison, School Volunteers Liaison, Silver Knight Awards Coordinator, Sunshine Club Treasurer, Students Affairs Coordinator, Students Against Destructive Decisions Sponsor, Take Stock In Children Mentor, Women of Tomorrow Coordinator.

Why I joined the Coalition: When my Girl Scouts member lost her life in a head on collision by a drunk driver while driving to her college class, I responded to an invitation to join the Coalition to make a difference for my students and community.

Professional Accomplishments: Long list of accomplishments, recognitions, and appreciations but take pride in being a SADD Sponsor where my students are challenged to do more and explore even further in the subject of anti-alcohol and drugs usage among teens and safe driving. Accomplished the reduction of the number of vaping incidents at our school this year to only 2 in November 2022. Being a member of the Teen Safe Drivers Coalition is one of the top accomplishments.

Hobbies or areas of interest outside of work: I love to read, knit and travel the world but mostly passionate on assisting others in need.

What was your favorite song when you were a teenager? Que Sera, Sera by Doris Day

What make and model was your first car? Chevy Malibu

What has changed most about driving from the time you were a teenager to now? So much has changed since I first learned how to drive. Most important is the enforcement of wearing seat belt laws and car seats for babies.

The one tip I would give any new teen driver would be: Driving is a privilege – maintain your rights to keep it!
