Petra Vybiralova Stanton

Safe Kids Supervisor- Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital

My job responsibilities: Leading injury prevention and Safe Kids Florida Suncoast efforts at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, a pediatric trauma center in St. Petersburg, FL. The Safe Kids Florida Suncoast outreach area includes Pinellas, Sarasota, Manatee, Polk, an Pasco Counties.

Why I joined the Coalition: Teen crashes are the leading cause of death of teens in the United States. Some of our area counties have high incidences of teen crashes. I want to make an impact not only in our outreach area, but also for the whole state!

Professional accomplishments: I am a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor for conventional car seats. I am also certified to teach Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Healthcare needs.

Hobbies or areas of interest outside of work: I love spending time with my family and enjoy our two dogs. I love watching movies and I love working out – currently my favorite is HIIT.

What was your favorite song when you were a teenager? Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror. It is still my favorite song because of its message – if you want to make a change, start with the man in the mirror.

What make and model was your first car? Ford

What has changed most about driving from the time you were a teenager to now? Cell phones became a major safety hazard.

The one tip I would give any new teen driver would be: You don’t have to get there first, you do not have to be the coolest, and you are not tending to emergencies!! It’s not a race! We all win, if we get there safely!!”
