Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition

Member Bio

My job responsibilities
As Program Coordinator, I lead the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition by overseeing daily operations, managing Coalition staff, coordinating meetings, campaigns, and outreach, working closely with members and partners, and managing the grant that funds the program.
Why I joined the Coalition
As a parent of teenagers and with a background in law enforcement, I’ve seen firsthand the consequences of distracted and unsafe driving. I joined the Coalition to help promote safer driving and reduce crashes.
Professional accomplishments
After earning a psychology degree from Indiana University, I began my career in social work, which eventually led me into law enforcement. I served as a police officer and later as a sworn investigator with the Office of the Attorney General. I was honored as Officer of the Year in 2016. I joined the Coalition staff full-time in 2024 and continue to serve part-time in law enforcement.
Interests outside of work
I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling. My husband and I make a point to visit at least one new place each year.
Favorite song as a teenager
“I Believe” by Blessid Union of Souls. It always reminded me of the importance of compassion.
First car
A Toyota Corolla. It wasn’t fancy, but it got me where I needed to go.
One tip for new teen drivers
Driving is a serious responsibility. One split-second decision can change your life or someone else’s forever. Make smart choices and avoid distractions.
