Member Bio

My job responsibilities
Analyze injury data to identify the leading mechanisms of injury that bring trauma patients to UF Health Shands. Design educational materials and conduct outreach through workshops and community events to prevent and minimize the impact of traumatic events.
Why I joined the Coalition
I have a passion for keeping people, especially teens, safe. As a paramedic, I have seen many preventable injuries caused by unsafe driving habits. In July 2023, my daughter was involved in a vehicle crash. She was not the driver, but the driver was messing around and lost control of the car. My daughter and her friend had taken their seatbelts off because they were “close to home.” Both sustained cervical spine injuries that required surgery and caused lasting changes in their lives. I want to be part of educating teens and changing driving habits to save lives and reduce injuries.
Professional accomplishments
I provide free community outreach events to raise awareness about safe driving.
Interests outside of work
Family, friends, and my four rescue pets; dancing; football; beach time; crafting; and photography.
Favorite song as a teenager
“Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi.
First car
Buick Riviera.
One tip for new teen drivers
Always wear your seatbelt and make sure your passengers do too.
