Education and Outreach Coordinator – Teen Traffic Safety
Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

My job responsibilities: I coordinate Teen Traffic Safety outreach on behalf of Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

Why I joined the Coalition: The mission of the coalition aligns directly with my job duties and passion I have for teens and traffic safety. The coalition is an excellent resource for all things teen traffic safety.

Professional accomplishments: I received the 2018 MADD Underage Drinking Prevention Civilian Award.

Hobbies or areas of interest outside of work: I absolutely love to DANCE, and I am a “Domestic Diva” in every sense of the term.

What was your favorite song when you were a teenager? Coolio – Gangsta’s Paradise

What make and model was your first car? 1996 Chevy Corsica – Red with cow print seat covers!!

What has changed most about driving from the time you were a teenager to now? Distractions!! Cell phone use, music, trying to figure out all the features on your steering wheel or dashboard – created for our convenience, but without self-regulation they can be detrimental to ourselves and others!

The one tip I would give any new teen driver would be: This is a huge milestone in your life – ask questions, practice driving, avoid distractions, stand your ground and be firm with the smart decisions you make – life doesn’t give you second chances, make the most of the time you have!
