My job responsibilities: Event/hurricane response management. Liaison between Police/Fire and local and national media. Project/ Grant Coordinator/ Manager.
Why I joined the Coalition: Enhance our agency’s involvement in Teen Driver Safety education and develop ideas to reach Target ZERO.
Professional Accomplishments: 27 years of undisciplined service to Broward County. Multiple career citations, including Officer of the Year in 2019. Written and directed grant programs with over $1 million in revenue funding. In my spare time, I also run one of the largest Law Enforcement charities in the Southeast United States, generating charitable revenue of over $100k a year.
Hobbies or areas of interest outside of work: Fishing/ Traveling/ Boating/ My charity work
What was your favorite song when you were a teenager? Thunderstruck (ACDC) – Don’t tell anyone!!!!
What make and model was your first car? Nissan Pickup
What has changed most about driving from the time you were a teenager to now? I have not only gotten slower, but I am more aware of watching my surroundings. I also look ahead at my approaches to intersections.
The one tip I would give any new teen driver would be: Slow is fast! Taking the time to commute (while avoiding distractions) will ensure a safe and prompt arrival at your destination.
